Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs is looking forward to a historic racing season, as North America's top drivers and trainers will be competing for big purses during the 2008 live harness racing season. The season runs from April 1 through September 13 with a post time of 2 p.m. Live action is held on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday afternoons. Catch driving sensation Tim Tetrick, the 2007 top driver at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs who established a new North American standard for wins in a single season, along with other standouts, including Eric Goodell, Mike Simons, Tom Jackson, Jim Taggart Jr. and Larry Stalbaum, will once again compete here. Racing at the Northeastern Pennsylvania racetrack has never been better since purses have increased considerably over the past year. The purse hikes are attributed to tax revenues generated by the slot machines at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. A new era was ushered in when the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority (MTGA) purchased the Wilkes-Barre area racetrack and its off-track wagering facilities for $280 million in January of 2005. Even before the completion of the casino, the MTGA gave its horsemen several "good faith" increases and fans have seen constant improvement in the quality of racing. Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs
